RAMALLAH, November 17, 2014 (WAFA) – Head of the Prisoners Committee, Issa Qaraqe, said on Monday that around 1,500 Palestinian prisoners, held in Israeli jails, are suffering from various diseases, including 25 cases of cancer.

Qaraqe said medical negligence has been a systematic policy by the Israeli Prison Service, noting that three prisoners recently warned to launch a hunger strike against their deteriorating health conditions.

The official demonstrated cases of deliberate medical negligence, including urgently needed medical surgery, as well as cases of numbness and paralysis.

More than 5,000 Palestinian prisoners are still detained in Israeli prisons, of whom dozens are serving a life sentence.

The number of sick prisoners detained in Israeli jails has reached 1500, of whom 80 prisoners are suffering from serious health problems and do not receive the necessary treatment; they suffer from malignant diseases, paralysis, and disabilities, in addition to cases of mental illness and…
